About Me

Learning how to express myself

I had some bad experiences in school when we needed to di craft projects as I wasn't good at obeying the instructions precisely enough. It was really off-putting and even though I loved the idea of doing crafts I ended up putting aside my crafting urges for a while. Once I got a bit older I felt like I could go back and try crafting on my own terms without a grumpy teacher telling me off all the time! This blog is all about figuring out your own crafting style and trying different craft projects. I hope it's a source of inspiration for other people.

Why Candle Making Should Be Your Next Hobby

by Ethan Ray

Candle making is a fun, creative hobby that allows you to experiment and get better over time, as well as providing you with endlessly customised candles. This guide explains three reasons candle making should be your new hobby to inspire you to pick up your candle supplies and get started.

Get Creative and Experiment

Candle making, at first glance, might not seem like the most creative hobby. However, it can be incredibly creative and fulfilling, allowing you to use different types of wax, wicks, scents, colours and moulds to make whatever candle types you like. It's possible to create a batch of candles, feel like they're almost perfect, and experiment with changing different variables to see what happens. There are lots of creative and interesting candle tutorials online that can help you make really beautiful and exciting candles, and it's also a hobby where it's easy to make progress and see your candles getting better over time.,

Create the Candles You Want to Burn

There are loads of benefits to making candles, but one of the main ones is that you can burn the candles you've made. Burning candles, as WebMD explains, can lower your stress levels and help you to relax, especially if you include certain scents such as lavender and rose. Candles can also create a relaxing, cosy atmosphere, and can help you to feel romantic or creative. Making the candles yourself means you can customise every aspect of them, whether you want a rose candle that matches the blue of your living room or are looking for a very particular blend of scents. By making your own candles, you can ensure every candle in your home is personal to you.

Earn Some Extra Cash on the Side

You shouldn't feel like you need to turn every hobby into a job, but if you're looking to make some extra money, candle making might be a good idea. Many people don't want to make candles but love to burn them, and it's relatively easy to make batches of identical candles if you have enough supplies. If you're interested, hone your candle-making skills for a while until they're good enough to sell, then look into craft markets in your area, as well as online venues where you can sell your candles. If you're not interested in selling candles, you may still want to make them for family and friends as cheap, heartfelt gifts.

Whether you're interested in experimenting with different types of candles, want to create the perfect candles for your home, or hope to start a side business, candle making is a fantastic hobby. If you're interested, find a candle-making supply store in your area and see what's available.
